ニューヨークとテキサス州・ヒューストンを拠点に活動する米国人アーティスト Leslie Hewittによる展覧会「Index Array」が、ペロタン東京にて8月20日（土）まで開催中。

1977年にニューヨークで生まれたLeslie Hewittは、クーパーユニオンで学士課程を卒業したのちイェール大学で修士号を取得し、現在はクーパーユニオンで准教授を務める。

写真と彫刻を融合させた彼女の作品は、個人的および歴史的な記憶を背景とし、ポストミニマリズムの視点から静物というジャンルを再検討している。

今展で発表された新作「Daylight/Daylong」は、自身のテキサス州・マーフィのチナティ財団でのリサーチ活動を元にディプティク（二連画）という形で構成した、一連の写真作品群。

二連画の左側はテキサス州西部の地平線から光放つ朝日を捉え、右側はミニマリズムの美術家 Dan Flavinの光のインスタレーション「untitled (Marfa Project)」から着想を得た「自身の知覚体験」を抽象化し、フレームに収めた。

自らデザインした木箱の中に構成されたフレームは、その異なる奥行きで視差を生み出し、各作品に特有の見え方を与えている。

その他、銅とオーク材で構成された床置きの作品「Untitled」は、Leslieには珍しい立体作品であり、時の反復や情報の溝、特に抹消された歴史を捉えて示している。

多角的な関わり方を促す三次元性。
光、色、イメージが屈折し、私たちの視点に再構築される。
