ニューメキシコ州・サンタフェのGeorgia O'Keeffe Museumが、施設の一時休館に伴い、多彩なオンラインコンテンツ「O’Keeffe from Anywhere」をウェブサイトにて公開中。

アメリカン・モダニズム牽引し、20世紀で最も重要なアーティストの1人とされるGeorgia O’Keeffe。
その才能に魅了された近代写真の先駆者 Alfred Stieglitzと婚姻関係を結び、20s半ばには、豊かな想像力に満ちた抽象的な花や近代アメリカを象徴するニューヨークの摩天楼を描いた作品で評価を確立した。

1929年、初めてニューメキシコを訪れた彼女は、その壮大な景色やネイティブアメリカンとヒスパニックの文化に心を奪われ、動物の頭蓋骨や神秘的な砂漠の風景などをモチーフとした新たな芸術性を獲得。

O'Keeffeがおよそ20年間にわたり夏を過ごし、やがて永住の地としたこの場所にはGeorgia O'Keeffe Museumが建てられ、150点近くの油彩画をはじめ、木炭やパステルによる絵画、岩や骨、ドレス、絵筆といった私物、彼女の人生に関連する文書や写真のアーカイブなどを所蔵している。

同館のウェブサイトで公開中の「O’Keeffe from Anywhere」では、そのコレクションをオンラインで鑑賞できるほか、O’Keeffeについて学べるテキストや、ニューメキシコのアビキューに位置する彼女の家のビデオツアー、もう1つの住処があったゴースト・ランチの景色を体験できるビデオ、彼女の制作について知識を深めながら創造性を磨けるアクティビティなど、さまざまなコンテンツが展開。

また、Zoom Webinarによる事前予約制のオンラインプログラムも数回にわたり開催が予定されている。

内面の感情が息吹を与えた、彼女にしか描けない自然の形。
荘厳な砂漠に今なお生き続ける、インディペンデントなスタイルの源を探って。
