メキシコ出身のアーティスト Gabriel Ricoの個展「The Propagation of Teurári」が、ペロタン東京にて6月24日（土）まで開催中。

自らを「発見的手法を用いた存在論者」と称し、発見、収集、製造された素材の組み合わせから、人間と自然環境の関係性について思案させる立体作品を制作するGabriel Rico。

ネオンや剥製、陶器、枝、個人的な思い出の品々などを用いたそれらは、方程式や定式のように、素材そのものの有機的で粗削りな性質に反した精密な幾何学性を生み出す。

そしてアイロニカルかつ詩的に組み合わせられた自然と不自然な形状は、その非対称性を通して私たちの文化的、政治的欠陥について考えさせる。

今展は、彼が過去10年にわたりコラボレーションを行ってきた先住民のグループに捧げるもの。
その作品群には、先住民の伝統的な職人技であるニエリカ（毛糸絵）やチャキラ（ガラスビーズ）が活用され、民俗学的な創造プロセスを促進する。

Ricoは彼らの非西洋的な知識や自然に基づく信仰を融合することで、自然とのより強固な繋がりの構築を図り、私たち人間にその関係性を再考するきっかけを与えている。

「Vll from the series - The taste of superlative and the admirable holiness」は、鑑賞者の通過によって生じる風が、吊り下げられた金箔をほんの一瞬はためかせ、人間と作品の間にある目に見えない原子の触覚的な繋がりを感じさせる作品。

また「No podemos ver el interior del sol directamente (pentágono y máscara)」は、陰と陽の心地よい対称性のような、自然界に見られるバランス感覚や形の緻密な計算に基づいている。

広範なコラボレーションで探る、宇宙と人間存在のバランス。
先住民の信仰を通した自然との調和の在り方が、オルタナティブな認識を構築していく。
