ニューヨークを拠点に活動するフォトグラファー Nan Goldinのオンラインエキシビション「Memory Lost」が、Marian Goodman Galleryのウェブサイトにて開催中。

1953年ワシントンD.C.に生まれ、被写体の深部を炙り出すようなポートレートを通じてアメリカの現代写真を牽引してきたNan Goldin。

ジェンダーやサブカルチャーなど自身にとって重要な問題を一般に知らしめる手段として写真を撮り始めた彼女は、姉や友人たちを失った経験、雑誌で目にしたHelmut NewtonやGuy Bourdinによるファッション写真などに影響を受けながら、およそ45年間のキャリアの中でそうしたコミュニティを可視化し、声を与えてきた。

ニューヨークのMarian Goodman Galleryでの個展に併せオンラインでも開催中の今展では、Goldinの代表的な作品群に加え、2020年から2021年のパンデミックの間に彼女の自宅で撮影した新作を披露。

私たちが知る世界から未知の現実へというパラダイムシフトの中で自身の友人や家の中を写したGoldinは、存在や静けさ、親密さがもたらすタイムレスな繋がりを記録した。
