‘INTENSITY’
Beni-iro is a strong color, self-assertive, even.
When in sight, it captivates ones attention no matter how small it is.
I feel it has an intense power that cannot be overlooked.
I traveled to Cuba in the spring of 2019.
I was also attracted by various beni-iro there as well.
Though I’ve only realised that after coming back home, looking back to the photographs I’d taken in there.
I had unconsciously reacted to the beni-iro color and pointed the camera at that direction.
Beni-iro is also used for the national flag of Cuba.
I have read somewhere that it stands for the blood shed for independence and power of justice.
Speaking of it, the 3 Cuban peso bill is in beni-iro.
And the portrait of Ernesto Guevara is printed on it.
Photographer based in Tokyo. Being drawn by New Color Photography, a set of common sceneries being shot graphically, he started taking pictures professionally from 2017.
The places left behind the times and unrealistic scenes in the actual world, which were taken by him, make its viewers conscious of the events which once would have happened there and the events which are currently happening out of the frame.
He is also a graphic designer, and currently works as a member of Surface&Architecture, a design studio.
