‘Indoors’
When I think about the beniiro color, I think about rooms, interiors, and architecture.
A lot of my images related to the color have this strange relationship to indoor domestic spaces,
while having this specific feel to them.
The color reminds me of a very calm feeling, yet secret as something is hidden deep below the surface,
something unknown, however not bad nor good. The color always ends up setting the mood and dominating when I use it in my work.
Even if only present in the background or as a detail, it always becomes the protagonist and ends up stealing the show. Beniiro reminds me of half-eaten cherries with the insides sticking out,
a woman’s red lips, and the walls of my old kitchen in Glasgow where I always photographed Julia and still lives.
