‘AMUSEMENT PARK’
All my works are full of colors.
It is even one of the most important parts of the work.
I try to celebrate the medium of photography with all its characteristics.
It works best for me with bright shiny colors.
To show them I use color negative film.
Of course, the color „Beni-iro“ appears again and again and and sometime even accidentally in many of my pictures.
In my memories, this color has also a deep connection. There is a traditional candy that you can find at any fun-fair in Germany called “Paradiesapfel.”
It is an apple glazed with a deep red semitransparent sugar layer.
You get it on a stick and you have to break a hard first layer of candy at your first bite.
It is fun and sweet.
Every child loves it!
Another thing is the famous “Kodak red“ that appears in every bigger amusement park that reminds me very much about beni-iro.
It was early in the history of the amusement park when Walt Disney and Kodak decided together to design a park that looks beautiful on every photo.
In order to achieve this goal, all paths between the landscapes were painted red to get a balanced color contrast.
I love this play with colors at all these staged places and I use for my work.
