‘ALL THE COLORS’
For me white is the light.
Within white there are all the colors.
The bright African sunlight I use in my works revealing the rainbow of colors.
My approach in my work is to play with tension.
I seduce the viewer with interesting shapes and a delicate color palette, and when I’ve captured their attention, the images unravel, and you start to recognize the objects as trash, waste or garbage.
I use colors for my backgrounds inspired by the pieces I find on the beaches.
In the hard white sunlight the colors start te speak to me.
I love odd color combinations, and like it when they are almost clashing.
I love ton sur ton. When the colors are right it touches me deep inside.
You can see by the wear of the objects that many of them have been in the ocean for years before they land on the beach.
I want the work to be accessible and people to have prints in their home to serve as a reminder.
They are beautiful; yet carry a more significant message.
