現実と虚構の狭間に見出す「訪問者」の存在

ロンドンを拠点に活動するクリスチャン・ヒダカと、ロサンゼルスを拠点に活動するタケシ・ムラタによる展覧会「訪問者」が、銀座メゾンエルメスフォーラムにて2023年1月31日（火）まで開催中。

劇場やその建築、西洋の絵画史への参照を特徴とした絵画制作を続けているクリスチャン・ヒダカと、デジタルメディアを用いた映像作品や立体作品などで独自のリアリズムを追求するタケシ・ムラタ。

日本の血を引きながらも異国の地で育った彼らの眼差しは、日本の文化や言語とはある一定の距離を持った訪問者のものであり、またそれゆえに、私たちを彼ら固有の世界へ導く。

今展のタイトルとなった「訪問者」とは、展覧会を訪問する私たちなのか、来日するアーティストのことなのか、作品の中に描かれた誰かを指しているのか。

2人のナラティブは小説やSF映画のように、訪問者とは誰なのか、何であるのかを探すような開かれた問いかけから出発し、コンテンポラリーアートの中に見るフィクショナルな構造を浮かび上がらせる。

ヒダカは、シンメトリーな構造の中にPablo Picassoのアルルカン、Fra Angelicoのディテール、Carlo Scarpaの建築のフレーム、カービィのダイアグラムなどが反復する、ハイブリッドな魅力あふれる不思議な散策を提案。

一方ムラタが制作したのは、バスケットボールをする「ラリー」という犬の映像作品。
液体シミュレーションでレンタリングされたラリーは彫刻のようでいて、メタ世界にしか存在しないムラタの自画像でもある。

ミステリアスな余韻を残す、「訪問者」という曖昧なサブジェクト。
リアリティと虚構性を巧みに用いて創られた、異次元の世界に誘われて。
