「Behind the Beauty（美しさの裏側）」
この作品は、壊れたものや悲劇的なものの中に美しさを見出すとはどういうことなのか、そしてそれがいかに自分自身を閉じ込めてしまう可能性があるのかということについて探究しています。

私とアシスタントのPhoebeが創り出すダークな色彩の背景と、Serena Mangiatordiや三宅一生、Apu Janなど革新的なデザイナーの作品を使ったAmeliaのパワフルなスタイリングによって、これらのイメージの中に孤独感と脆弱性を生み出しました。

スタイリングの大胆さと対比を成す背景の落ち着いた色彩は、創造性の静かな裏側にはしばしば痛みや苦しみがあることを視覚的に表しています。
このことが、私たちが本来のロマンティックな性質に忠実でいることを難しくしてしまうのです。

モデルのMÆは自身の美しさを恐る恐る示しながら、悲しい目であなたの心を見つめています。
彼女の顔はFrancescaによる、かすかながらも宇宙人のようなメイクアップによって引き立てられ、まるで「滅びゆく世界で愛することに価値はあるのだろうか？」と問いかけているようです。

私たちは自身の混沌とした考えに縛られ、薔薇色のレンズを通してすべてを見たいと強く願い、経験した倦怠感や不安を克服しようとする感覚を表現しました。

このプロジェクトのメッセージは、私たち全員がコンクリートに囲まれて育つ黄色いタンポポのように、闇の世界でロマンティックであるために闘い続けなければならないということです。


In this editorial we explore what it means to see the beauty in the broken and tragic, and how this can trap you within yourself.

With my and Phoebe’s darkly colored backdrops and Amelia’s powerful styling that utilizes the work of innovative designers such as Serena Mangiatordi, Issey Miyake, and Apu Jan, we created a sense of loneliness and vulnerability in these images.

The muted colors of the background contrasting with the boldness of the styling are a visual example of how the quiet backdrop to creativity is often pain and hardship.
This can make it hard for us to stay true to our natural romantic natures.

MÆ, our model, stares into our soul with sad eyes, tentatively claiming her own beauty.

Her face is accentuated by Francesca’s subtle but alien-esque makeup look, almost as if she is asking “Is it worth loving in a dying world?”.

We have illustrated a feeling of being stuck inside one’s own chaotic thoughts, wanting so badly to see everything thorough a rosy lens and trying to overcome one’s learned jadedness and anxiety.

The message of this project is that we must remain like yellow dandelions growing thorough concrete as we all battle to stay romantic in a dark world.
