「Five Senses（五感）」
私は写真で五感を感じさせることができると思っています。
視覚、嗅覚、味覚、聴覚、触覚の中から、今作では聴覚に焦点を当ててみました。

日常に音はたくさんあふれているけれど、大きな音のみが耳に届くだけだと思います。
しかし、太陽が沈む瞬間や昇る瞬間にだけ、普段は聞き逃してしまう微かな音が、自然と聞こえて来るのです。
そう感じたのは、夕暮れ時の海を眺めていた時でした。
ただ波の動きを眺めに行っただけだったのに、私は波の音に癒されているということに気づきました。
それから私は、水の音や、日の暮れる音を聞いた時、いつもと違う特別な瞬間に自分がいると感じていたのだと思います。
その静けさの中から聞こえてくる微かな音を、写真という物理的に音が聞こえてこないもので表現したいと思いました。


I believe that photographs can emit multiple senses to those viewing it.
Out of the five senses; sight, smell, taste, hearing, and touch – I tried to focus on hearing in my own way.

There are a lot of sounds in our everyday life, and yet only loud sounds can be heard.
Only in the moment when the sun sets or rises, the subtle sounds that you usually miss are heard naturally.
I felt that way when I was watching a sunset.
Despite that I had just gone to see the waves, I realized that its sound were quite soothing.
Subsequently, whenever I would hear the sounds of water and nightfall, I felt that
I was in a special moment – something that was different from my daily life.
So, I wanted to express the subtle sounds that I heard from the tranquillity of the waves,
by deliberately using photography that is naturally inaudible.
