「Beauty of the Quiet(静謐な美しさ)」
Through the idea of Sisterhood, I try to pursue the beauty of pure and
simple things in the countryside, and the need to connect with nature.
Growing up amidst the constant hustle in the city, sometimes I recall the stories
I heard from my mother about the little village she used to live and the friends
she would make and call them sisters.
This makes me wonder what it would be like living in the countryside?
A slow walk in the field with the horses, walking barefoot on the wet grass
after an early morning rain shower, or just simply enjoying and being in the space between.
You can find inspiration through the beauty in the quiet,
the stillness and in this space, we just live simply.
Born and raised in Singapore, Makiyo began her photographic journey when she won a worldwide
competition and spent some time in Cairo, Egypt, documenting local life through images.
Currently spending her time between London and New York, she is currently working on
two personal projects; one is about the culture of her homeland, and the other explores the
unfulfilled and unrequited love in the modern world.
