Based on the moodboard by the Art Director and Yuna’s style, I got a sense of vintage/retro vibes, which reminds me of Petra Collins and Sofia Coppola’s works.
They are both my early inspirations.
I love how their works have this sentiment of melancholy.
For me melancholy doesn’t mean just depression, it’s the sadness with a sense of awareness.
In this shoot I tried to accentuate the melancholic atmosphere with strong continuous lights indoor. The overcast outdoor lighting also worked perfectly for the shoot.
There are six girls living in my flat here in London, and there are an uncountable amount of mirrors in here.
The one mirror in my room is believed to have an evil spirit trapped inside of it, and I faced it to the wall so that I won’t go crazy.
It is so delightful just to be at home since I believe in spirits and deities.
My landlord told me once before going to sleep.
“If we jumped into a pool and become fish in our dreams, what would we be when we wake up?”
And I think that in this shoot, Molly’s Gothic style accentuated the work in a dreamy way.
