This work is a personal exploration of my own childhood memories or the lack thereof.
Throughout my life, I have felt burdened by the absence of vivid visualization and recollection of my own childhood.
It has always made me question and wonder about the significance of that period in our lives.
In this piece, I attempted to piece together fragments of memories, anecdotes, and feelings that have either been told to me or that I have managed to recall.
It became a journey of trying to understand and capture the essence of my early years.
The central theme revolves around my personal journey of reconstructing my own childhood memories. It delves into the challenges I faced in navigating an empty memory and the impact it had on my identity and sense of self.
Through this work, I aimed to evoke emotions, sensations, and visual cues associated with my childhood, even if the memories themselves were not readily available.
Two main inspirations guided my work: the playground and dance.
These elements played a significant role in my childhood, and I drew from them to create a visual and conceptual framework for my exploration.
I found inspiration in the movements and fluidity of dance, which became a reference point for expressing the intangible aspects of my elusive memories.
Additionally, I incorporated the geometric shapes, volumes, and materials of playgrounds, as they symbolized the physical spaces where I spent a lot of time during my childhood.
The playground and dance became powerful symbols that helped me convey the essence of my early years, despite the absence of concrete memories.
It became a way for me to grapple with the significance of childhood and the longing to reconnect with a part of myself that felt elusive.
